What is employee feedback software? A brief definition

Employee feedback software makes it easy for employees to give, receive, and request meaningful praise and advice.

And when feedback is frequent, employees report feeling 3.6x more motivated to do outstanding work compared to those who receive it annually.

They’re also 80% more engaged.

But with so many employee feedback software out there, choosing the right one can be overwhelming.

To help, we asked our People Science Team about what exactly makes the “best” tool.

Gaurav Chaubey, our People Science Leader here at Mesh.ai, recommends you look for employee feedback software that has these three core characteristics:

  1. Embeds continuous feedback into your culture for timely performance recognition and correction.
  2. Coaches employees on how to give more meaningful feedback that improves performance.
  3. Provides analysis People teams and managers can use to make talent decisions such as progression, pay, and development.

The 13 best employee feedback software in 2024 - Summary

In a nutshell, here are the 13 best employee feedback software we'll review today:

1. Mesh.ai - Best employee feedback software for improving people performance

Mesh.ai is a performance enablement software with all the features your organization needs to track and improve employee performance.

This includes continuous feedback.

We know that feedback only works if it's given at the moment of need, not months later, and we make sure your employees are able to easily seek, give, and act on feedback.

How do we know this?

Because teams that leverage praise and advice on Mesh see a ~138% boost in feedback inputs throughout the year over traditional periodic review/feedback cycles.

They also improve their high-performer density by 15%.

Continuous feedback within Mesh can then be used to inform:

Mesh.ai also comes with an AI coach, Maven who will help employees write better feedback, set better goals, and analyze performance effectively.

Your people will know what they need to do to improve and will have the support to actually do it.

If that’s not enough to convince you, let’s look at how Mesh meets the three factors we outlined earlier.

→ Factor 1: How Mesh.ai embeds continuous feedback into your culture for timely performance recognition and correction

With Mesh.ai, giving and receiving effective feedback becomes a default behavior of your employees.

We use ‘nudges’ to let managers and colleagues know when to give feedback. These nudges are prompted by a few factors:

  1. A feedback request from another employee
  2. Time elapsed since that person has given feedback
  3. A moment has occurred which a manager should give feedback for (such as goal completion)

This means that feedback given is timely enough that an employee can take action to improve their performance before it becomes a bigger problem. It also means desirable behaviors and skills are reinforced.

→ Factor 2: How Mesh.ai coaches employees on how to give more meaningful feedback that improves performance

Ever wish there was someone on your shoulder telling you how to give feedback so that it's clear, concise, impactful, empathetic, and forward-focused?

Mesh Maven is that someone. It actively coaches each employee by analyzing the feedback draft the employee’s written, highlighting where it’s effective and where it could improve, and offering to automatically rewrite it for them..

This cuts down the time it takes to make feedback effective and it eliminates the fear employees so often have around writing sensitive feedback.

Mesh Maven doesn’t stop at feedback help, either. To learn all the ways it enhances performance, head here

→ Factor 3: How Mesh.ai provides analysis to People teams and managers that can use to make talent decisions such as progression, pay, and development

Mesh's AI-powered analytics engine processes the data collected from performance reviews, feedback, goal completion, and other sources to create intuitive dashboards that provide real-time insights into employee trends.

The platform offers four out-of-the-box analytics and reports, but we are also able to set up custom reports for your specific needs.

You and your managers can use these insights to make difficult decisions easier, whether that’s who gets promotions, who doesn’t, where you should invest in training, what skills gaps you may need to hire for, and if someone who’s consistently underperforming needs to be let go.

2. Workstory - Best employee feedback software for splitting performance reviews into bitesize feedback

Workstory is an employee feedback software that takes the performance review process and breaks it up into digestible chunks your employees complete throughout the year.

Their approach ensures feedback about performance is being delivered at a regular cadence and prevents the review process from feeling like a mammoth of a task.

Workstory also allows organizations to customize the review process so that every role is measured against capabilities and skills specific to their responsibilities.

This then allows the questions that prompt feedback to be personalized and precise.

Pricing: Workforce offers their Business Plan at $9.35 per user, per month.

You can get a 15% discount if you sign up to an annual plan and all customers get a 30-day demo. And if you’re a larger organization, you can get in touch with their team to build a custom plan.

3. Survicate - Best employee feedback software for getting feedback on your org

Survicate is a survey software with employee feedback capabilities allowing you to tap into the sentiment of your people and get feedback on what’s working and what’s not in your organization.

You can take their NPS feature and repurpose it for eNPS questions. The insights you get off the back of those surveys can be used to inform your People strategy and organizational culture.

For example, if employees give feedback that shows they want more transparency from Leadership then you can introduce rituals that help increase that transparency and encourage the Leadership team to be open where they can be.

Pricing: Survicate has three pricing tiers

  1. Free: up to 25 survey responses per month
  2. Business: up to 250 survey responses per month at $99 per month
  3. Scale: 250+ survey responses at $299 per month

4. Teamflect - Best employee feedback software for Microsoft Team users

Teamflect is an employee feedback software that integrates perfectly with Microsoft Teams, increasing the likelihood the tool gets used.

A major barrier to software use is lack of integration into your company’s flow of work. And what better way to be top of mind than to connect to your preferred company comms tool?

This is a barrier we break through at Mesh as well, connecting to either Microsoft Teams or Slack and sending notifications for feedback in a message to your employees in the same way Teamflect does.

Pricing: Teamflect has a free plan for up to 10 users. Any more than that and it’s $5 per user, per month.

5. Workforce - Best employee feedback software for shift workers

Workforce is an employee feedback software employees can access through an app on their phone to suit the needs of companies with shift workers who may not have a work computer or a typical 9-5 schedule.

This makes giving feedback on the go easier to accomplish and more likely to occur.

Think of a train or bus journey home where a manager suddenly remembers the feedback they wanted to give their direct report that day.

Rather than let it fade to the recesses of their memory, they can take action then and there on their phone before turning their brain away from work for the day.

Pricing: Workforce offers three tiers of pricing but doesn’t list that pricing publicly on its website.

6. TinyPulse - Best employee feedback software for pulse surveys

TinyPulse is an employee feedback software that gets to the bottom of how your employees really feel about the organization, their manager, and their role.

Through pulse surveys—a clever nod to your people being the heart of your organization—you can learn how engaged your people are through their feedback.

Once you have the data you can take action to improve organizational performance, engagement, and retention.

We love that you can time surveys around initiatives to see if what you’ve implemented as a People team works or not.

They also have a feature called ‘Cheers for Peers’ which allows co-workers to give that all important recognition for a job well done.

We only wished there was a way for employees to use the platform to give advice as well as praise like we have on Mesh.

Pricing: TinyPulse keeps their pricing private.

7. Checkpoint 360 - Best employee feedback software for assessment based feedback

Checkpoint 360 is an employee feedback software that uses DISC assessment techniques to analyze a leader’s skills and provide feedback on where their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of opportunity lie.

The assessment measures against 8 managerial competencies and 70 leadership items. It then presents the information in a graph so that the manager can see their results:

The assessment takes about 25 minutes and will show answers from their self assessment as well as those from peers, managers, and direct reports for a comprehensive view of their performance.

Pricing: Checkpoint 360 has a starting cost of $270 and is sold on quantity rather than monthly subscription.

8. Great Place to Work - Best employee feedback software for benchmarking data

Great Place to Work is an employee feedback software organizations can use to conduct employee surveys. While this is similar to TinyPulse, Great Place to Work stands out for its database of benchmarking data.

People teams can use this data to see how they’re performing compared to similar companies in their industry.

Think of knowing your people are happy with their salaries compared to other companies. You could use that information to attract talent and boost your employer brand. You could also focus on improving areas where you’re falling short.

Pricing: Unfortunately, Great Place to Work does not publicly state it’s pricing.

9. Engagedly - Best employee feedback software for rewards

Engagedly is an employee feedback software that offers organizations the ability to build a reward program based on the recognition and praise employees receive from their managers and peers.

This means rewards can be based on genuine insights into an employee’s performance rather than relying on bias, favoritism, or gut feel.

You can also reward employees who give feedback on a continuous basis to reinforce it as a desirable behavior.

The platform has:

  • A points system where employees collect points by performing specific tasks
  • Personalized incentives to cater to the interests of employees
  • Badges for them to show off their achievements
  • A gift card store for them to spend their rewards
  • Leaderboards to add a competitive edge to performance
  • Real-time feedback where employees can get direction

Pricing:  All plans start at $5,000.

Beyond that they have a base package offered at $9 per member/month with 4 add-on packages.

10. Mentimeter - Best employee feedback software for gathering spot feedback in meetings

Mentimeter is a meeting tool and employee feedback software employees can use to create surveys and collect feedback following a project, meeting, launch, and other crucial moments.

Let’s say an employee has just launched a new product feature and has a meeting to explain to the other teams (marketing, sales, customer success, etc.) what that feature is and provide information about the feature they need to know in their roles.

That employee could then run a survey to collect feedback to gauge how well the information was conveyed and where they could improve product launch syncs in future.

The platform also has templates the employee can choose from and tweak. This is all available alongside Mentimeter’s other features such as meeting polls and interactive quizzes.

Pricing: Mentimeter’s basic package is $10 per presenter, per month. It goes up to £20.83 per presenter, per month for their Pro package. Many of the feedback survey templates are available through the Pro account.

11. ThoughtExchange - Best employee feedback software for continuous listening

ThoughtExchange is an employee feedback software companies can use to listen and gauge the engagement levels of their employees.

Employee feedback on their organization is just as crucial as feedback to the employee on their performance and this platform makes it easy to do on a continuous basis so that no sentiment goes missed.

You get:

  • Advanced Survey Analytics
  • Interactive AI Advisor
  • Unified Qualitative and Quantitative Data
  • Targeted Cohort Insights

All of which you can use to alter your People strategy.

Pricing: ThoughtExchange has two plans with an option add-on. The pricing for those plans are not listed.

12. Jigso - Best employee feedback software for templated recognition messages

Jigso is part employee feedback software, part employee experience platform. Organizations can use it to increase recognition and praise and provide meaningful feedback to their peers.

This is made possible by the softwares collection of templated recognition examples:

They provide context for when and how employees should praise their colleagues such as to acknowledge exceptional leadership skills or the way they’re inclusive to others.

This helps reduce the mental load of writing feedback from scratch.

Pricing: Jigso does not list its pricing or packaging publicly.

13. Workhound - Best employee feedback software for anonymous employee feedback

Workhound is an employee feedback software that champions employee voices and bolsters psychological safety by giving front-line workers a place to share their feedback anonymously with the organization.

Employees are able to provide anonymous feedback over text message so that problems can get addressed before it becomes a retention issue. It also means employees don’t need to download an app or software.

Pricing: Workhound offers three packages

  • Essential Feedback
  • Advanced Engagement
  • Premium Workforce

They don’t, however, list the prices of those packages publicly.
